As a model and actor, I always need to have my skin in perfect condition for photo shoots and filming. The more the years pass, the more the lines of wrinkles settle down and the more it is difficult for me to keep a young and glowing skin. Here are 10 tips that I apply daily to take care of my skin and to prevent its aging.
This is surely the most important advice. The sun can be very bad for your skin and can cause premature aging of it. That is why I always apply sunscreen with a minimum index of 30 on my face if I have to go outside and I avoid exposing my face directly to the sun. When I sunbathe, I avoid the hottest hours of the day and I always wear sunglasses and a hat.
It is essential to drink water throughout the day in order to drain, evacuate toxins and have an optimal blood circulation. I always avoid getting dehydrated because this can cause the loose of elasticity of my skin. I drink the equivalent of 1.5L of water per day, especially in the form of green teas, rich in antioxidants.
It’s no secret that tobacco and alcohol are the enemies of our skin and our health in general. Tobacco accelerates aging of the skin and alcohol causes dehydration of the epidermis. I can only advise you to quit smoking and drink less alcohol if you want to take care of your skin.
Food rich in antioxidants (such as tomatoes or strawberries), vitamins (such as fruits and vegetables) and omega-3 (such as fatty fish such as salmon, mackerel or sardines) should be favored. It is especially important to eat a healthy diet and avoid industrial foods, often rich in refined carbohydrates and saturated fatty acids, also called bad fats. For my part, I cook all my dishes and I avoid fast food. I eat at least 3 fruits per day and 250 grams of vegetables per meal. I prefer fresh foods rather than frozen and canned foods.
It is surely the basic secret to having a smooth face all your life. Short nights and insomnia accelerates the aging of the body and especially of the skin because it is during the night that the skin regenerates and repairs itself, notably skin damage such as sunburns. I always take care of my sleeping conditions. For example, I avoid overly generous meals in the evening, I take care of the quality of my bedding, and also of the temperature of my room. I sleep between 8 and 9 hours a day on a regular basis and try to go to bed at a fixed time.
Sport promotes the oxygenation of your skin and stimulates your blood circulation. Likewise, getting a breath of fresh air has the power to tighten pores, oxygenate the skin and stimulate the blood circulation. In addition, physical exercise provides a feeling of well-being, improves the quality of your sleep and reduces stress. By my side, I practice at least 2 hours of cardio per week (jogging and swimming) and I really like hiking, as well as other outdoor activities like snowboarding.
I strongly recommend that you incorporate relaxation activities into your daily routine (such as reading, yoga, meditation, self-massage, etc.) in order to reduce your stress, relax your face and improve your health in general. Personally, I dedicate one hour of my time per day to reading and I practice one hour of yoga per week. The holidays are also a great way to disconnect from my obligations and from my daily routine and I always find that my facial skin is visibly tighter when I return from vacation.
It is very important to cleanse your skin at least once a day with a soft cleanser suitable for your skin type by softly massaging your face in order to stimulate your blood circulation. I personally wash my facial skin with L’Oréal Paris Skincare Men Expert cleanser once or twice a day.
It is also essential to moisturize your skin at least once a day, especially when it is subjected to external aggressions (cold, sun, wind, etc.). There are a whole series of creams depending on your type of skin (normal, dry, oily or mixted). I always recommend using a moisturizing lotion in the evening after washing your skin, such as coconut oil, to hydrate it deeply and promote its repair overnight. Anti-aging creams also help to reduce wrinkles and / or prevent their appearance. As a day cream, I use Clinique moisturizing fluid for men and Elizabeth Arden 8 hour protective balm as a night cream.
Once a week, make gentle scrubs to remove dead skin and stimulate cell renewal. Your skin will look younger and more radiant. However, avoid doing it too often because excessively repeated exfoliators can promote the appearance of redness, cause acne breakout or the hypersensitivity of your skin. As an exfoliant, I use either a natural activated carbon scrub infused with collagen and stem cells or detox black soap with activated carbon.
